Engineering company TechnipFMC has been awarded a contract from oil and gas supermajor TotalEnergies to install flexible pipe and associated subsea structures for the Girassol Life Extension project, offshore Angola.
Announced on 23 August, the contract is valued between $75 million and $250 million. “This seamless integration of engineering, manufacturing, and installation provides our clients with the flexibility and agility they need to meet their project goals,” stated Jonathan Landes, President for Subsea at TechnipFMC.
Landes, added “We have good knowledge of the field, having built the subsea tree systems for the original Girassol development.”
TechnipFMC was previously awarded a contract for the engineering, procurement, and supply of subsea flowlines and connectors for the Girassol project.
Situated roughly 210km off the coast of Luanda in Block 17, the deepwater oil field is comprised of 39 subsea wells, 45km of flowlines, 29km of injection lines, 70km of umbilicals, and was developed using a subsea facility tied back to a Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading unit. The field boasts a production rate of around 220,000 barrels per day.
