Global oil and gas services provider Sapura Energy has been awarded a $300 million contract by Azule Energy – a 50:50 joint venture between oil and gas supermajors Eni and bp – for the provision of offshore transportation and installation services for Angola’s offshore Northern Gas Complex project.
Under the contract, Sapura Energy will provide engineering services, transportation and installation, and other services for the Quiluma and Maboqueiro platforms, with work for the project expected for completion by the fourth quarter of 2026.
Work on the project will involve two offshore wellhead platforms, an onshore gas processing plant, as well as a connection to the Angola Liquefied Natural Gas plant in the city of Soyo, Ziare Province. Upon completion, the field is expected to produce up to 4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per year.
Situated in shallow waters off the coast of Angola, the Quiluma and Maboqueiro gas fields – located in the Northern Gas Complex – represent the first non-associated gas development projects for the southern African country.
The contract was signed by Sapura Energy’s wholly-owned subsidiaries Sapura Offshore, Sapura Energy DMCC, and Sapura Energy Engineering & Construction.
