Offshore engineering company Petrofac has won a three-year contract from British multinational oil and gas company bp for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) liquefied natural gas project in Mauritania and Senegal.
The multi-million-dollar Master Services Agreement encompasses a range of services, including onshore and offshore management, personnel provision, and equipment maintenance.
According to Nick Shorten, COO, Petrofac Asset Solutions, “Having supplied operation services for the floating production storage and offloading vessel and liquefied natural gas hub since 2022, and developed operational procedures in 2021, this additional scope demonstrates bp’s confidence in Petrofac and supports out selective geographic expansion strategy.”
The GTA project, situated offshore on the border of Mauritania and Senegal, is nearing completion, with first gas expected in the first half of 2024. The field is expected to produce around 2.3 million tons of LNG per year in its initial phase.
