Independent oil and gas company Wintershall Dea has signed an agreement for scientific and technical cooperation with Algeria’s National Oil Company, Sonatrach, to develop natural gas and low-carbon projects in the North African country.
Under the agreement, the companies will extend their existing partnership and develop innovative approaches and solutions for joint projects in the field of low-carbon energies such as green hydrogen and carbon capture technologies. Special focus will be placed on the role of Algeria’s natural gas supplies to North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
“This agreement is another example of Wintershall Dea’s strong and reliable partnership with Algeria and reflects our openness to knowledge exchange,” stated Thomas Ruttmann, Managing Director for BU Algeria at Wintershall Dea.
