Oil and gas company Wildcat Petroleum has passed a requisite due diligence process in South Sudan, enabling the company to undertake petroleum deals in the country, including large-scale oil production purchases.
The clearance process – which included a technical competency and financial capability evaluation – is required by South Sudan’s Ministry of Petroleum (MOP).
According to Wildcat Petroleum Chairman Mandhir Singh, the company has been invited by the MOP to visit Juba and enter discussions on current oil production opportunities in the country, following the approval.
The approval serves as a key milestone for Wildcat Petroleum, which aims to build up its African upstream portfolio, targeting opportunities in Sudan, Chad, Niger, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Libya.
In Sudan, the company is seeking to increase oil production from the Bamboo field – from current levels of 4,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 10,000 bpd in the next three to five years – through the deployment of enhanced oil recovery techniques.
