Technology group Wärtsilä will supply engines and auxiliary equipment for a 17 MW power plant at the Boto gold mine in Senegal.
The order, placed by power plant consultancy Africa Power Services and booked in Q1 2024, is scheduled for delivery by December 2024.
“The configuration provides good flexibility and optimal performance of the power plant under varied load demands,” Sameer Poredi, Business Development Manager, Lifecycle at Wärtsilä Energy said.
Powered by six Wärtsilä 32 engines, the plant will ensure reliable electricity for the off-grid mine and is expected to be operational by Q1 2025.
