UK service provider Enshore Subsea and Belgian company Herbosch-Kiere have formed a joint venture – Dakar Marine Link – to undertake onshore and offshore work in Senegal for the installation of 225 kV cable links.
Herbosch-Kiere’s Atlantis vessel has arrived in Dakar carrying Enshore Subsea’s ENS1600 trencher, which will be used to excavate two 17.5-km trenches for the cable links.
The joint venture will oversee all engineering, procurement, construction and installation activities for the project. The $200-million project is part of the Senegal Power Compact program – funded by the US Millennium Challenge Corporation and the Senegalese government – which aims to upgrade Senegal’s transmission network to meet growing power demand.
