Uganda is set to launch its third oil and gas licensing round during the 2025-2026 fiscal year, according to Ruth Nankabirwa, the country’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Development.
The licensing round will cover new exploration areas and aims to attract fresh investment in underexplored acreage.
In addition to the licensing round, Uganda expects first oil production from the country’s Tilenga and Kingfisher fields this year. Situated in the Albertine basin, the fields will export oil to international markets via the Port of Tanga in Tanzania.
