Turkish Airlines has signed an MoU with Libya’s Civil Aviation Authority to bolster collaboration in air transport. The agreement aims to fortify bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in training, maintenance services and investment activities in the aviation sector.
Turkish Airlines plans to operate three weekly flights – on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays – to the airport as well as gradually resume flights to other Libyan airports. The MoU coincided with a Turkish Airlines flight touching down at Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport on March 28 – the first after a ten years hiatus.
Libya’s Minister of Transport Mohamed Al- Shahoubi emphasized that Turkish Airlines’ landing at Mitiga Airport signifies a guarantee to international civil aviation bodies. He highlighted the stability of Libya’s security situation and the commitment to implementing aviation safety standards.
