UAE renewable energy company AMEA Power has launched construction of the 120 MW Kairouan solar photovoltaic plant in Tunisia.
With estimated investment totaling $86 million, funding for the project comes from the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, and the African Development Bank. Set to begin operations in Q4 2025, the solar plant will produce 222 GWh of clean energy annually, providing electricity to more than 43,000 households and mitigating 117,000 tons of carbon emissions across its operational lifespan.
“By taking advantage of its renewable energy resources and its strategic location between North Africa and Europe, Tunisia can become a prime location for green energy and trade,” said Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power.
