TotalEnergies has renewed its contract with international drilling contractor Northern Ocean for the Deepsea Mira semi-submersible rig, which is currently operating offshore the Republic of the Congo.
The extension, effective from October 2024, includes a firm commitment for one well and an option for an additional well.
TotalEnergies initially hired the Deepsea Mira in December 2022 for a multi-country drilling contract. In the third quarter of 2023, the rig was engaged in drilling offshore Namibia to appraise the Venus discovery. Following this campaign, the rig moved to the Republic of the Congo the to continue drilling operations for TotalEnergies.
The Republic of the Congo is a key market for the French major which oversees the Moho-Bilondo fields and five discoveries: Pegase Nord, Andromede Marine, Aurige Nord Cassiopee Est, and Persee Nord Est.
