Energy supermajor TotalEnergies announced the discovery of hydrocarbon-bearing intervals at its Mangetti-1X exploration well, offshore Namibia.
The Mangetti-1X probe is being drilled by the drillship Tungsten Explorer, which was recently acquired by TotalEnergies through a binding agreement with drilling contractor Vantage Drilling.
While it is too early for the major to confirm the well’s commercial viability, Namibian officials estimate the country could hold as much as 11 billion barrels of crude.
