Total and its partners have made a new gas condensate discovery on the Luiperd prospect located on Block 11B/12B offshore South Africa. The discovery follows the landmark Brulpadda find, made in 2019.
The Luiperd-1X well was drilled by the Odfjell Deepsea Stavanger semi-submersible rig, in approximately 1,800 meters of water to a total depth of 3,400 meters. The well encountered 73 meters of net gas condensate pay. The Block 11B/12B joint venture is now testing the well after a coring and logging program to determine complex reservoir characteristics.

Total is the operator and has a 45% participating interest in Block 11B/12B. Africa Energy holds a 49% stake in Main Street 1549 (Proprietary) Limited, which has a 10% participating interest in the block. Qatar Petroleum International Upstream has a 25% interest and CNR International has a 20% interest in Block 11B/12B.
