Surveying services firm TGS has partnered with the state-owned National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) to reprocess multi-client seismic data offshore Liberia.
The project aims to update existing 2D and 3D seismic data in the Liberia and Harper basins, integrating legacy data sets into a unified velocity model using advanced imaging algorithms.
“This high-quality 2D seismic data will be essential in promoting future licensing rounds offshore Liberia under a direct negotiation approach,” stated TGS Multi-Client Executive Vice President David Hajovsky. “It also allows E&P companies to further evaluate exploration opportunities in an underexplored but proven petroleum system adjacent to prolific hydrocarbon provinces.”
TGS recently completed the first phase of the initiative, reprocessing approximately 12,097 km of 2D legacy seismic data offshore Liberia, which is now available for industry licensing.
TGS will reprocess an additional 12,675 km in the Liberia and Harper basins in the second phase and plans to reprocess approximately 15,616 km2 of 3D seismic data in the Liberia basin.
