Data center company Teraco has begun construction on a 120MW solar power plant in South Africa’s Free State province.
The solar project is expected to start operations by 2026 and generate approximately 354,000 MWh of electricity annually. The project will power Teraco’s data centers in South Africa.
“We plan to create our own sustainable energy source to power the next generation of client cloud and AI computing applications,” stated Teraco CEO Jan Hnizdo.
Solar energy companies Juwi and Subsolar have been tapped to design the project and will manage the procurement, construction and commissioning of the solar plant.
