France’s Technip Energies and Japan’s JGC Corporation have secured the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for ExxonMobil’s 18-MTPA Rovuma LNG project in Mozambique.
Led by a joint venture comprising ExxonMobil, Eni and CNPC, the Rovuma LNG project is a large-scale natural gas development focused on extracting, liquefying and exporting natural gas from the Rovuma Basin’s vast offshore reserves. The project will feature electric-driven LNG trains to minimize carbon emissions, as well as prefabricated and standardized modules to maximize on-site project delivery. FID for the development is anticipated by 2026.
“By leveraging our expertise in modularization and electrified LNG, we are committed to support ExxonMobil and its partners towards final investment decision, as well as strengthening our presence in Mozambique to contribute to long-term economic growth and its ambition to become one of Africa’s leading LNG exporters,” Mario Tommaselli, Senior Vice President of Gas and Low Carbon Energies, Technip Energies, said in a statement.
