Taranis Investments, the investment arm of the Perenco Group, has acquired renewable energy developer Akuo Energy’s African business, marking a significant expansion of its renewable energy portfolio on the continent.
The acquisition will integrate Akuo’s renewable energy assets and local expertise into Taranis’ Energy for Africa fund, supporting its strategic ambition to play a leading role in the sustainable energy transition. Key assets in the deal include the 50 MW Kita solar farm in Mali, commissioned in 2020, and a 17.5 MW photovoltaic plant in Mauritius.
“This acquisition marks a strategic step for Taranis’ Energy for Africa fund and Taranis’ ambition to become a major player in the sustainable energy transition,” said Emmanuel Colombel, Chairman and CEO of Taranis.
In addition to these assets, Taranis gains a skilled team specializing in the development, operation and maintenance of solar, hybrid solar-storage and wind projects.
“Through this transaction, we are delighted to give new impetus to the portfolio of projects that the Akuo teams have developed in Africa,” said Eric Scotto, Chairman of Akuo Group.
