Benjamin Attia

Benjamin Attia is a Senior Research Analyst in the Energy Transition practice at Wood Mackenzie. He leads the firm’s coverage of on-grid and off-grid power sector transformations in sub-Saharan Africa, MENA, and Latin America. Previously, he spent more than 5 years leading Wood Mackenzie’s research and consulting work on solar PV markets across Africa, the Middle East, and parts of Asia, focused on market developments in the policy, supply chain and project development landscapes, forecasting scenarios, and investment trends. Benjamin regularly advises renewable IPPs, private equity and sovereign wealth funds, state-owned entities, and strategic and infrastructure investors on secondary market transactions, competitive positioning, market entry strategy, opportunity screening and more. Benjamin is a 2021 National Fellow at the Clean Energy Leadership Institute, and a non-resident fellow at the Energy for Growth Hub, the Energy Access Project at Duke University, and the Payne Institute at the Colorado School of Mines. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Benjamin worked in solar asset management and commercial operations at SunEdison and on clean energy transition focused regulatory research for utilities and policymakers at the National Regulatory Research Institute. He holds a Masters degree in Energy & Environmental Policy from the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration and a B.S. in Economics and Energy Environmental Policy from the University of Delaware.
