UK-based engineering and maintenance services company, Sparrows Group, has secured a three-year contract with an undisclosed company for crane operations and maintenance offshore Luanda, Angola.
Announced on 30 March, the agreement will cover 10 pedestal crane and six line and rescue craft boats across the field’s four assets, with the firm, which has been carrying out these operations since 2005, now contracted to continue operation, inspection, load testing, structural repairs, and major and general maintenance of the cranes.
In addition, Sparrows Group will be responsible for the management and delivery of highly skilled crane operators, technicians, and core specialists, as well as project management, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, and technical engineering support, with its operations to be undertaken at the company’s facility in Luanda.
“We invested in a new workshop, office space, and training facilities in 2020, which has allowed us to continue delivering in-country equipment repairs and refurbishments for our customers as well as providing local skills development,” stated Stewart Mitchell, CEO of Sparrows Group, adding, “This contract win is a testament to the dedication of our Africa team who have worked diligently to overcome complex travel restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.”
