South Sudan and Sudan have discussed resuming oil transportation via the Jabalyn-Port Sudan pipeline.
On June 2, Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council Chairman, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met with South Sudan’s presidential advisor on security, Tut Gatluak, to discuss solutions for restoring the oil transportation line between the two countries.
They agreed to hold a meeting between the oil ministries of both nations to address the halt in oil flow. South Sudan’s oil transportation has been suspended since March 2024 due to ongoing military operations.
South Sudan holds Africa’s third-largest oil reserves, with oil exports accounting for about 90% of the nation’s revenue. “Oil constitutes a lifeline for the citizens of both countries,” Gatluak stated.
