The Muntanga and Dibbwi East projects in South Africa – operated by Canadian mining firm GoviEx Uranium – have demonstrated uranium recoveries of 90% or higher. A metallurgical test work program conducted by GoviEx Uranium on the mine confirmed the efficiency of the heap leach process, underscoring the potential of the deposits.
Monitored by mining consulting firms SGS Bateman and SRK Consulting, the program confirmed a rapid 20-day uranium recovery timeframe, along with low acid consumption during the process. The company will conduct a feasibility study for the project before the end of 2024.
“These positive test work results confirm the straightforward metallurgy at the Muntanga Project, improving the accuracy of results which will be used in our feasibility study…,” stated Daniel Major, CEO of GoviEx Uranium. “The data provides further confidence in the project’s processing design, helping to refine key assumptions and parameters for the upcoming feasibility study.”
GoviEx Uranium is evaluating the potential use of small on-off leach pad systems for uranium extraction at the Muntanga Project.
