Solar energy provider Trina Solar and renewable energy firms SOLA and Wilson Bayly Holmes-Ovcon (WBHO) will collaborate to develop the 135 MW Merak 1 project. The project will supply solar power to mining company African Rainbow Minerals’ operations.
The collaboration will see Trina Solar supply 205,161 panels of its Vertex modules for the Merak 1project while SOLA and WBHO Construction’s joint venture will ensure the project’s execution.
“This collaboration showcases Trina Solar’s commitment to advancing clean energy solutions tailored to the country’s industrial needs and deliver high-power, high-efficiency and reliable solar solutions,” Trina Solar’s Regional Director of Southern Africa Zaheer Khan said.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
