The National Transmission Company of South Africa (NTCSA) plans to invest up to $6.3 billion to modernize and expand the country’s grid network.
The investment will be made as part of NTCSA’s Transmission Development Program, which aims to construct 14,000 km of new power lines over the next decade. NTCSA has signed agreements with 19 private sector firms to support the construction of these new transmission lines.
NTCSA also targets the integration of 11,000 MW of renewable energy by 2027 and up to 30,000 MW by 2029, under efforts to enhance South Africa‘s energy security and expedite its transition to renewable resources.
