Exploration firm Kinetiko Energy has begun site preparation for a five-well gas production test program in South Africa’s Mpumalanga province.
The nine-month program will determine best practices to “unlock the potential of the existing 6 TCF Contingent Resource (2C) discovery within the Mpumalanga Province which is currently equivalent to 1 BBOE and expected to grow significantly,” according to Adam Sierakowski, Chairman of Kinetiko Energy.
The company selected sites for the wells and is casing conductors and drilling to monitor water levels as part of the preparation works set to continue over the next four weeks.
The five wells are strategically located near existing electricity transmission lines for easy integration with the national grid. The drilling rig for the five gas wells will be mobilized in late August, with the first well set to be spudded in early September.
In June 2024, Kinetiko Energy raised $2.2 million to fund the program.
