Algeria’s state-owned power utility Sonelgaz has exported a large shipment of spare parts for electricity meters to Tunisia. The spare parts were produced by Sonelgaz’s industrial subsidiary, the Algerian Company of Electrical and Gas Industries (SAIEG), at its El Eulma unit.
The export follows a recent shipment of 433 electric vehicle charging stations, also produced by SAIEG. The company has signed several export agreements after achieving self-sufficiency in the domestic market.
The operation marks a step towards reducing Algeria’s reliance on hydrocarbons.
