Algeria’s Sonatrach has signed contracts – valued just shy of $520 million – with six domestic companies for the construction of pipelines and related infrastructure within the country.
Spanning a total length of over 700km, the pipelines will be constructed from the southwest, and are set to transport 11 million cubic meters per day by 2022.
Contracted companies include ENGCB, SARPI, ENGTP, ENAC, Kanaghaz and Cosider Canalisations. Of the contracts, SARPI and Safir Group will lead development plans for oilfields west of Touat, which will deliver 6,000 barrels of oil per day to the Adrar refinery by 2022.
Meanwhile, Consider Canalisation will begin work on fire detection and anti-fire networks at the Arzew facilities, and ENAC will supply, install and commission cathodic protection systems on pipelines from Hassi R’Mel to Arzew.
Local content is projected to play a significant role in the development of the infrastructure, which will create nearly 3,000 local jobs, according to the state-owned oil company.
Meanwhile, Sonatrach also began operating the R-OB1 pipeline between Msila and Béjaia on September 1, following the completion of the rehabilitation project by ENAC. The scope of the project involved the construction of a 164 km pipeline between the SP3 pumping station in Msila and the SP13 isolation station in Oued Ghir in Bejaïa.
