Renewable energy company Solarise Africa and downstream oil company Rubis Energy Kenya have launched a joint venture (JV) to provide renewable energy solutions to commercial and industrial firms in East Africa.
The Rubisol JV aims to tap into businesses in Kenya and the wider East African region opting for decentralized power systems due to the unreliability of supplies from the national grid. The collaboration will allow the companies to expand operations to include locally produced and reliable energy at accessible prices for businesses operating in the region.
Jan Albert Valk, Co-Founder and CEO of Solarise Africa, stated that “Our expertise in decentralized solar and other energy solutions, combined with RUBiS’s strong market presence, will unlock new possibilities and empower businesses to thrive.”
Olivier Sabrié, Group Managing Director of RUBiS Energy Kenya added that with the partnership, “we are taking a significant step towards a sustainable future. RUBiSOL will not only enhance our energy portfolio but also offer our clients innovative and sustainable energy solutions.”
Meanwhile, marking a significant milestone in Rubis Energy Kenya’s commitment to transitioning towards renewables, the company also announced it will install solar panels on its stations and depots to meet decarbonization objectives.
