German service provider Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract to develop an 80 MW power generation plant for the Kaminho oil project FPSO, offshore Angola.
Under the contract, Siemens Energy will design, engineer and supply a high-performance power generation system to the FPSO, ensuring reliable power for the vessel’s onboard systems.
The power generation system will feature gas turbine technology, which is known for its high efficiency and low emissions output. Siemens Energy will also supply an advanced automation and digitalization system to the FPSO, which will facilitate remote monitoring and optimized operational efficiency.
Situated approximately 100km offshore Angola and boasting a production capacity of 70,000 barrels of oil per day, the Kaminho project serves as part of Angola’s strategy to sustain its position as one of Africa’s largest oil producers.
