Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has proposed a long-term partnership with Chinese tech giant Huawei.
During a visit to Huawei’s demonstration center in Beijing on September 3, President Faye highlighted that innovative solutions offered by Huawei align with Senegal‘s vision for systemic transformation. The President noted that digitization is a fundamental pillar and key priority across multiple sectors in the country.
“Digital technology will be a major driver of growth in Senegal’s systemic transformation,” President Faye stated, adding that, “These innovations offered by the company could help reduce energy costs for both the government and Senegalese citizens, no matter where they are in the country.”
President Faye stressed the importance of long-term planning to implement the country’s new public policy framework, noting that the partnership will be evaluated by the relevant ministry to ensure it supports Senegal’s digital transformation goals while safeguarding sovereignty concerns.
