Senegal is set to establish a new special economic zone (SEZ) in the Louga region as part of its National Industrial Development Strategy, according to Minister of Commerce, Industry, and SMEs, Serigne Guèye Diop.
Announcing the project on September 17 during a visit to the Louga Textile Industrial Platform, Minister Diop requested that 50 hectares of land be allocated for the SEZ.
The government’s initiative will begin by constructing eight industrial hubs, with 14 more planned in a second phase, aiming to drive growth and job creation. This project is part of a broader plan to develop 45 SEZs, projected to generate around 3 million jobs.
Minister Diop emphasized, “The government aims to establish a new industrial policy focused on national self-sufficiency and fostering local innovation through the creation of these special economic zones.”
