A Memorandum of Understanding detailing Nigeria’s intent to aid Senegal in the process of its hydrocarbons industry nationalization through augmented local content measures was signed on Tuesday by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board and authorities from the Senegalese Petroleum Industry.
Nigeria stands among the most venerable and experienced oil and gas producing nations of West Africa and as such has decades of accumulated insight into the tying in of hydrocarbon extractions with the local economy. The country has already provided support for Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, the Niger Republic, The Republic of Congo and Uganda.
The next steps for the country involve the development a robust development plan for local content via a consultative strategy with Nigerian heads of industry, pushing towards a goal of 70% local content by 2025.
