Senegal’s Minister of Energy, Petroleum and Mines Mirame Soulèye Diop has inaugurated a new electric power station in the northwestern city of Touba.
At a cost of approximately $117 million, the power station boasts a capacity of 225/30 kV and will provide electricity to 124 localities in the Diourbel region.
Construction of the power station was undertaken by Eiffage Énergie Systèmes in partnership with the Senegalese government.
During the announcement, Minister Diop indicated that similar power stations are under consideration in the towns of Linguère and Ndioum, situated in the Louga and Saint-Louis regions, respectively.
