Senegal’s National Council for Local Content (CNSCL) and the National Institute of Oil and Gas (INPG) have signed an agreement to establish a capacity-building program for local businesses and human resources in the hydrocarbon sector in Dakar, Senegal.
A call for applications will be issued soon to choose organizations and employees who can benefit from this upgrading assistance.
With prioritizing skill development and human capital training critical to ensuring that the local workforce has the requisite skills to satisfy the needs of the oil and gas sector across the whole value chain, the deal symbolizes both companies’ joint commitment to optimize local content and empower local service providers.
The CNSCL was established in 2016 in response to the huge oil and gas discoveries of Greater Tortue Ahmeyim and Sangomar. Its principal objective is to prepare local content strategy documents and monitor the execution of Senegal’s local content development plan.
The INPG, on the other hand, is a government solution that supplements a well-defined institutional structure targeted at assisting the expanding oil and gas industry. It focuses on a variety of topics, including engineer specialization, technician and operator certification, public administration upgrading, and specialized training for legal, fiscal and economic professionals in the oil and gas sector. Additionally, it offers essential certifications in Health, Safety and Environment, as well as technical English training specific to the oil and gas industry.
