First gas production of bp and Kosmos’ Grande Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) is expected by the end of Q3/beginning of Q4, with the first oil of Woodside’s Sangomar anticipated between May and July in Senegal. Senegalese Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Antoine Félix Diome, provided an update on the country’s hydrocarbon projects during a press briefing on March 4.
Diome reported that the GTA project has progressed to 92.5%. The critical FPSO component is undergoing repairs in Tenerife, Spain, and is expected to join the field soon. This progress signals the anticipated start of gas production in Senegal, slated for the third or early fourth quarter of 2024.
The minister updated on the Sangomar oil project, with a 95% execution rate. FPSO Léopold Sédar Senghor arrived in February 2024, with first oil expected between May and July 2024. Diome expressed: “Progress is substantial, with successful laying of mooring lines and precise execution of network tensioning.”
