The 255 MW Saint Louis gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Senegal is expected to reach financial close by Q3 2024.
The development, design, construction and operation of the $475-million project is being financed by the African Export-Import Bank.
A 25-year power purchase agreement is already in place between power generation company Ndar Energies and Senegal’s state-owned Senelec, with the plant due to begin commercial operation by 2026.
Development of the power plant began last January, with installation work being carried out by Turkish power producer Aksa Energy through its subsidiary Ndar Energies.
