Mining company Akobo Minerals has started operations at a gold processing plant at the Segele Mine in Ethiopia. With a capacity to process 4,000 ounces of gold per month, the commissioning of the plant signals the start of production at the mine.
The first phase of the plant’s commissioning comprised the connection of the falcon concentrator as well as the milling, grinding and furnace systems. These were installed by engineering firms Gekko Systems and Solo Resources. The second phase – which has also been completed – featured the activation of the InLine Leach Reactor.
Jørgen Evjen, CEO of Akobo Minerals, stated that “We have received solid feedback and are proud of the strong work from our team. We look forward to processing our first ore and moving forward with the project.”
The processing plant will be expanded and integrated with a Carbon in Leach system in phases to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
