Saudi aid agency the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KFRelief) has signed a cooperation agreement with a Nigerian civil society organization to drill 21 medium-depth wells powered by solar energy.
The project will target the Abuja, Enugu, Kano, Osun, Oyo and Kaduna regions and will provide clean drinking water to livestock and approximately 105,000 people in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, KFRelief also signed two executive agreements with a civil society organization to drill 27 solar-powered wells in Mali, which is estimated to benefit approximately 372,000 people.
The project in Mali will be conducted in two phases, with the first project involving 16 wells drilled to 100m, one well drilled to 120m and five surface wells drilled to depths ranging from 20-40m.
The second phase will include drilling two wells to 100m and three surface wells to 20-40m.
