Woodside Energy has reached a major milestone in its Sangomar Field Development with the departure of the Léopold Sédar Senghor FPSO from Singapore on Tuesday to its final destination off the coast of Dakar, Senegal.
The FPSO, named after Senegal’s first president, will travel 12,000 nautical miles to reach its destination. Its successful departure was made possible through partnerships with Senegal’s national oil company, Petrosen, shipbuilding contractor MODEC, and marine services company Seatrium.
The Sangomar Field Development Phase 1 includes a stand-alone FPSO with subsea infrastructure and an expected production capacity of 100,000 barrels per day. The FPSO was converted by MODEC into a fit-for-purpose vessel suitable for the Sangomar Field.
The project aims to produce first oil by mid-2024 and demonstrates Woodside’s commitment to Senegal’s future development.
