Service provider Saipem and logistics operator Africa Global Logistics (AGL) have initiated construction of the underwater structures for the Baleine Phase 2 project owned by oil major Eni and Ivorian national oil company Petroci in the Ivory Coast.
The Compagnie Abidjanaise de Réparation Navale et de maintenance industrielle (CARENA), a subsidiary of AGL, will locally manufacture the metal structures for deployment in waters exceeding 1,000 meters.
The subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines contract was awarded in September 2023 to Saipem.
The project encompasses engineering, procurement, construction, and installation of approximately 20 km of rigid lines, 10 km of flexible risers and jumpers, and 15 km of umbilicals connected to a dedicated floating unit.
