Rhino Resources has successfully completed drilling the first exploration well on PEL 85 in Block 2914 offshore Namibia’s Orange Basin.
The well encountered a hydrocarbon-bearing reservoir, confirming the presence of an effective charge system. However, further assessment by the company and its PEL 85 joint venture partners is required to fully evaluate the results.
With the first well completed, Rhino Resources is now shifting focus to the Capricornus prospect, a NE-SW trending channel system. The Capricornus-1X well is expected to take approximately 47 days to drill, according to a company announcement.
Namibia’s Orange Basin has seen a surge in exploration activity following recent discoveries, with energy companies eager to unlock its deepwater potential.
