The Qatar Chamber held meetings last week to discuss economic and commercial relations with officials representing Uganda and Chad.
The meeting was attended by the First Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, Mohamed bin Twar Al-Kuwari, as well as Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odongo Jeje Abu Bakr and the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture, Mines and Handicrafts of Chad, Ali Adji.
The meetings saw Mohamed bin Twar discuss investment opportunities between Qatar and Uganda with Minister Abu Bakr that will serve to encourage Qatari businesses to participate in various economic sectors in Uganda, including mining, agriculture, infrastructure and Islamic banking.
Uganda’s Minister stressed that Qatari investment into the East African country would promote socioeconomic development in both nations while inviting investors to learn about the investment climate and review the possibility to develop partnerships with their Ugandan counterparts.
Meanwhile, Mohamed bin Twar highlighted the interest by Qatari investors to explore investment opportunities in Chad, with Adji calling on investors to participate in opportunities present in the North African country’s agriculture, livestock, and housing sectors, while additionally noting that Chadian exports to Qatar, including meat, cotton, sesame, corm, natural gum, peanuts, and salt, could also serve to reinforce commercial and economic relations between the two countries.
