Chinese clean energy technology service provider Wison New Energies has started preliminary Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) work for two Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) projects in Nigeria.
Design works kicked off with the signing of a contract with the project owners – Ace Gas & FLNG and Transoceanic Gas & Power – respectively. Relevant finance has also been mobilized.
Ace Gas & FLNG’s project, located offshore Escravos comprises an FLNG vessel with the capacity to produce three million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year and 150,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per year. LNG will be exported to international markets while LPG will be sold to the domestic market. The project will utilize feedstock from multiple fields in the shallow regions close to OML 109.
Meanwhile, Transoceanic Gas & Power’s project is located offshore Pennington has the capacity to produce three million tons of LNG and 150,000 tons of LPG per annum, with LNG also destined for international markets and LPG for the domestic. A floating power barge concept is also planned for the project, with a Phase 1 capacity of 250 MW. Both FLNG projects have secured offtake assurances for produced LNG.
According to the agreement signed, shipbuilding company Samsung Heavy Industries Nigeria will be responsible for the upstream gathering facilities for both projects while energy company Siemens Energy will be responsible for the provision of power and compression systems.
