Global energy services provider Petrofac and Zallaf Libya Oil & Gas Exploration and Production Company, a subsidiary of Libya’s National Oil Corporation, have achieved first oil production from the Erawin Field Development Project in southwest Libya.
In 2021, Petrofac secured a $100 million contract to engineer, procure, construct and commission surface facilities for the project. The scope of work includes the installation of well pads, flowlines and a 100-km pipeline to transport crude oil to the El Sharara oil field. Additionally, Petrofac is responsible for constructing critical infrastructure at El Sharara, including a control room, substation and telecom system.
“This achievement is testament to the resilience of our team in overcoming the challenges of fast-tracking a project in a new country,” said Rami Haydar, Project Director at Petrofac. “Operating from multiple locations, the team successfully executed a hybrid model, while maintaining strict safety and security standards.”
