The third edition of the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power conference and event kicks off on November 21 and will feature government officials, international energy firms, investors, and service providers at the Al Mourabitoune Conference Center in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

Under the theme Scaling Energy Opportunities in Africa’s New Frontiers, MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2023 aims to optimize energy investments and leverage opportunities in the MSGBC basin.

High-level panel discussions, one-on-one meetings, exclusive networking sessions, technical workshops, forums and dynamic project and technology exhibitions will take place at this year’s conference, making MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power the region’s official event for comprehensive energy discussions. It serves as a pivotal platform for energy stakeholders to connect, deliberate on market challenges and opportunities and finalize transformative industry deals.

The upcoming year is poised to usher in substantial milestones for the region. These include the initiation of the first phase of the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim Liquefied Natural Gas project and the Sangomar Oilfield Development, both of which are slated to begin production in 2024. Additionally, the eagerly awaited construction of the Sandiara gas-to-power plant is expected to commence in 2024, while Mauritania gears up for its 2024 licensing round, offering 15 offshore blocks. These significant developments will be further unpacked by diverse panels featuring ministers and key industry players during the event.

Moreover, key upstream players in the region, comprising bp, Kosmos Energy, Woodside, Shell, and National Oil Companies like Mauritania’s Societe Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures and Senegal’s Petrosen, are set to deliberate on strategies for enhancing exploration and production in alignment with the growing global energy demand.

Subsequently, the extensive program will feature discussions on various industry-centric subjects such as green hydrogen, local content, financing, governance, the current status of the gas sector, and its role in powering the region. As the most significant energy gathering in the area, MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2023 stands as the official forum for deliberating West Africa’s energy trajectory and prospects for advancement throughout the entire energy landscape.

Organized by Energy Capital & Power in partnership with Mauritania’s Ministry of Petroleum, Energy, and Mines; the Mauritanian Oil and Mining Company; Petrosen; COS-Petrogaz; and the African Energy Chamber, the event will feature high level speakers including H.E. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, H.E.  Nani O. Chrougha,  Mauritania’s Minister of Petroleum, Energy, and Mines; Eng. Mohamed Hamel, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, and representatives from key market players and global majors including bp, CWP, Kosmos and Woodside in keynote sessions and panel discussions to discuss the future of the MSGBC’s energy sector.
