Global energy company the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. (NNPC) has introduced the Utapate crude oil blend to the international market.
Having exported five shipments of the blend to Spain and the U.S. since July 2024, the NNPC is seeking additional offtakers to double production from 40,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 80,000 bpd by the end of 2025.
The sweet light crude has an API gravity of around 44 and a sulfur content of approximately 0.07%. The blend is sourced from OML 13 in Akwa Ibom State, where the Utapate field has proven oil reserves of roughly 330 million barrels.
