South Sudan’s national oil company Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet) and Chinese firm Shengli Oilfield Keer Engineering and Construction Company (Sokec) have inked an agreement to construct a modern oil refinery and storage facilities in the country.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed last Friday by Sokec President Wu Song and Nilepet Managing Director Muhammad Lino Benjamin.
Before signing the MoU, a delegation from the Chinese firm conducted a two-day visit to oil fields in Tharjiath, Unity State to inspect the facilities and evaluate current refinery operations.
This deal marks the beginning of immediate investment by Sokec in South Sudan.
