UTM Offshore has obtained a license to construct its 2.8-million-ton-per-annum floating LNG (FLNG) facility – the first of its kind in Nigeria.
The facility will produce LNG, LPG and condensate from flared gas captured at ExxonMobil-operated Oil Mining Lease 104.
The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) granted the license during a ceremony in Abuja, attended by industry stakeholders including Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) Ekperikpe Ekpo and NMDPRA CEO Farouk Ahmed.
“As UTM FLNG Limited moves forward into the Engineering, Procurement and Construction phase, the company remains committed to conducting operations with integrity, sustainability and respect for the communities and environment in which it operates,” said Julius Rone, Group Managing Director of UTM Group of Companies.
The FLNG facility is located offshore Akwa Ibom State and is projected to be completed by 2028, with first gas production in 2029.
