Nigerian oil and gas company UTM Offshore Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (UTM FLNG) is advancing to the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning (EPCIC) phase of its FLNG project.
The project’s progression was discussed during UTM’s Managing Director and CEO, Julius Rone’s visit to the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board’s (NCDMB) Executive Secretary Felix Omatsola Ogbe at the board’s headquarters in Yenagoa, Nigeria.
“This project has received tremendous support from the NCDMB. They have been piloting and guiding us in all our processes. We have been working with your team all the way on this project and we’ve got all the approvals needed to conduct a prefill that supported us into the field,” Rone said.
Rone emphasized strict adherence to international standards across the project. The support from the NCDMB Executive Secretary was also acknowledged, highlighting his efforts in effectively piloting the content development strategy within the oil and gas industry, particularly in the area of research and development framework.
This project marks Nigeria’s first floating LNG facility to be developed by an indigenous company.
