Offshore energy service company Helix Energy Solutions Group has secured a contract for deepwater well intervention with Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (ESSO) offshore Nigeria.
Under this agreement, Helix Energy will deploy the Q4000 – a DP3 riser-based semi-submersible well intervention vessel – for operations in the Erha and Usan fields, slated to commence in September 2024.
“We are pleased to announce this contract for the Q4000. We are eager to strengthen our relationship with Esso and to further establish our presence as the leader for well intervention services in West Africa,” said Helix Energy Executive Vice President and COO, Scotty Sparks.
Key components of the contract entail Helix providing a 10k Intervention Riser System, remotely operated vehicles, project management and engineering services. These services will facilitate fully integrated well intervention operations from production enhancement to plug and abandonment.
The Q4000 vessel is expected to remain in Nigeria until 2025.
