The New Development Bank (NDB) – a multilateral development bank established by BRICs members – has approved a one-billion-dollar loan for South Africa to develop water and sanitation infrastructure.
The funding will be provided under South Africa’s Municipal Infrastructure Grant program and aims to reduce infrastructure backlogs while ensuring the provision of services to developing communities.
The funding aligns with South Africa’s National Water and Sanitation Master Plan 2030 and the NDB’s General Strategy, both of which aim to facilitate universal access to clean drinking water and sanitation infrastructure.
